Natural Eyebrow Shapes: How to Find the Right One for You
There's no such thing as a universally flattering brow shape. The arch that looks perfect on one face can look completely off on another, and yet most brow guides treat everyone the same.
Finding your natural eyebrow shape isn't about following a formula. It starts with understanding what you actually want, then looking at what your facial structure will naturally allow, and working from there.
Here's how we approach it at &BROWHAUS.
It Starts With What You Want
Before anything else, we ask about your preferences. What do you want your brows to look like? Are you drawn to something softer and closer to your natural growth, or do you want more shape and definition? There are no wrong answers, just a starting point for the conversation.
From there, we look at your facial structure and natural brow growth to understand what's achievable, and talk you through the options. Most people end up loving what they choose precisely because it was built around them — not taken from a one-size-fits-all template.

Understanding the Main Brow Shapes
It helps to have a sense of the shapes that exist before you come in. These aren't rules — they're a reference point.
Soft Arch - A gentle curve that rises gradually and falls without a sharp peak. The most common natural brow shape, and one that suits a wide range of faces. It reads as polished without looking structured.
High Arch - A more pronounced curve with a higher, more defined peak. Can open up the eyes dramatically, but needs careful shaping to avoid looking severe.
Flat Brow - A straighter shape with minimal arch, running almost horizontally across the brow bone. Creates a clean, understated look — particularly popular with clients who prefer something closer to their natural growth.
Angled Brow - A distinct peak followed by a downward tail, giving a more graphic, structured look. Requires precision to work well, but can be striking when it's right for the face.
Most people's preferences fall somewhere within or between these — and some faces suit more than one. Which is exactly why we work with you rather than applying a template.

Eyebrow Mapping: The &BROWHAUS Approach
Before any treatment begins, we use eyebrow mapping to establish the right shape for you, based on both your features and what you've told us you want.
These measurements create a framework, not a template. From there, we look at your natural brow growth, your bone structure, and what you've told us in your consultation to refine the shape into something that's uniquely yours.
The result is brows that look symmetrical and intentional, without looking like they've been drawn on.

Which Treatments Help Achieve Your Natural Brow Shape?
Threading is the most precise way to define and refine your brow shape. By removing only what falls outside your ideal shape, it respects your natural growth and creates clean edges without over-removing.
Brow Lamination works with your existing hair to create a fuller, more uniform shape. Rather than adding anything, it redirects your natural brow hairs into a more defined position — ideal for unruly growth or sparse areas.
Brow Tinting deepens the colour of your existing brows, making your natural shape more visible without changing it. Particularly effective for clients with lighter or finer hair who want more definition without filling in daily.

What to Expect at &BROWHAUS
Every appointment at &BROWHAUS begins with a consultation. We'll ask about your goals, look at your natural brow growth, and use eyebrow mapping to find the shape that works best for your face before we begin.
We don't follow trends. We don't use one-size-fits-all templates. And we don't rush.
If you're coming in for tinting, lamination, or a lash lift for the first time, you'll need a patch test at least 24 hours before your appointment. It takes around 5 minutes and can be booked online.
Book Your Brow Appointment in London
&BROWHAUS is an independent brow bar in Balham, London, a short walk from Balham station on the Northern line. We see clients from across South West London including Clapham, Tooting, Wandsworth, Brixton, Streatham, and beyond.
All appointments are booked online. New clients should book a patch test before their first tinting, lamination, or lash lift treatment.
FAQs
There isn't one. The most flattering brow shape is the one that suits your face structure and reflects what you actually want, and those two things are different for everyone. Soft arches, flat brows, high arches, angled shapes: all of them work beautifully on the right person. The goal at &BROWHAUS is never to push you towards a particular look, but to find the shape that feels entirely, naturally you.
It starts with a conversation. Before any treatment, we ask what you want your brows to look like: how much shape, how much definition, how close to your natural growth. From there, we use eyebrow mapping to understand what your facial structure will naturally support, and work with you to find a shape that fits both. Most people find that their ideal brow is already close to what they have. It just needs refining.
Eyebrow mapping is a technique that uses measurements based on your facial proportions to identify the ideal start, arch, and end point for each brow. At &BROWHAUS, we use it as a framework rather than a fixed rule. It tells us where to begin, and your natural brow growth, bone structure, and preferences tell us where to go from there. The result is a shape that looks balanced and intentional without looking drawn on.
To a degree, yes, but it depends on what you're working with. Threading and shaping can refine your brows significantly, and brow lamination can redirect your natural growth into a different position. What we can't do is add hair that isn't there. That's why the consultation matters: we'll always be honest with you about what's achievable before we begin, so there are no surprises.
Most clients come in every four to six weeks, though it varies depending on how quickly your hair grows and how defined you like your shape to stay. We'll give you a personal recommendation at your first appointment based on your natural growth pattern.
