Brow & Lash Treatment FAQs
Answers to all of your brow and lash questions.
Threading
Threading is a natural hair removal technique that uses a twisted cotton thread to gently lift unwanted hairs from the root. The thread is rolled over the skin in precise motions, removing multiple hairs at once while being gentle on the skin.
Brow mapping is a technique used to create symmetrical and well-shaped brows tailored to your unique facial features. By measuring and outlining the ideal brow shape based on your face structure, bone structure, and natural brow growth patterns, this method ensures balance and precision.
Threaded eyebrows typically last between 2-4 weeks. New hair will start growing back gradually, as hair grows in cycles. You may notice some regrowth within the first week, though it won’t be uniform. Most people schedule touch-up appointments every 3-4 weeks to maintain their desired brow shape.
Brow threading is generally considered a gentle hair removal method, but some clients may experience slight discomfort during the process. Since threading removes multiple hairs at once, you might feel a mild tugging or pinching sensation. However, the treatment is quick, and any discomfort is usually minimal.
At &BROWHAUS, we use a specialised technique designed to minimise discomfort, making the process far less painful compared to traditional methods. Our trained brow specialists ensure your experience is as smooth and comfortable as possible.
If you’re looking for professional eyebrow threading in South West London, visit &BROWHAUS at 78 Balham High Rd, London, SW12 9AG. We’re a 6-minute walk from Balham Underground station and serve clients from Clapham, Streatham, Tooting, Wandsworth, and Brixton. Our threading specialists use precision techniques combined with brow mapping to create perfectly shaped brows tailored to your features. Book online to secure your appointment.
Threading offers several advantages over waxing or tweezing. It’s gentler on sensitive skin since no heat or chemicals are involved—only organic cotton thread touches your skin. Threading is more precise, allowing our specialists to shape clean, defined lines and remove even the finest hairs. Results typically last 2-4 weeks, and many clients find threading less painful than waxing. It’s also ideal for the delicate eye area and suitable for clients using retinol or those prone to irritation.
Every appointment starts with a thorough consultation — we'll ask about the look you want to achieve, your concerns, and your usual routine before assessing your natural brow shape, bone structure, and facial features. From there, we use precise mapping techniques to create balance and structure, combined with a trained eye and experience that allows us to adapt to each individual face.
No face is perfectly symmetrical, and we never try to force it to be. Rather than working against your natural features, we focus on creating visual balance and harmony — brows that look even and well-proportioned while still looking natural.
Our approach doesn't follow trends. It's tailored, precise, and combines technical mapping with an artistic eye to achieve results that are timeless and personal to you.
Brow tinting
After getting your eyebrows tinted, follow these care instructions to ensure the best results:
For the first 24 hours:
-
Minimize exfoliation near the brow area, as it can fade the color
-
Protect your brows from excessive sun exposure
-
Stay away from swimming pools, saunas, and steam rooms
-
Be gentle—avoid rubbing or scrubbing your brows to maintain the tint
-
Avoid chemical facials
Ongoing care:
-
Use gentle cleansers and makeup removers around the brow area
-
Pat your face dry rather than rubbing with a towel
-
Avoid using retinoids, exfoliants, or harsh skincare products directly on the brows
-
Protect your brows from sun exposure, as UV rays can fade the tint
-
The tint typically lasts up to 4 weeks depending on your skin type and care routine. You might notice gradual fading, which is normal. Following the after and ongoing care recommendations can help extend the life of your tint.
For regular maintenance and to maintain color intensity, schedule touch-ups every 4-6 weeks.
We strive to never let you leave the salon unsatisfied so if you feel your brows are too dark, please let your technician know right away. Also, keep in mind that your brows will be darker the first day and will gradually fade. If you still feel they are too dark after 1-2 days, please come back into the salon and we will happily adjust them to your liking. We do not recommend trying to remove the tint on your own as this could lead to uneven coloring and/or a complete removal of the tint.

Yes — a patch test is required at least 24 hours before your first tinting, lash lift, or brow lamination appointment. A small amount of the chemicals used in the treatment will be applied to an inconspicuous area of skin to check for any allergic reactions, ensuring it's safe to proceed with your full treatment. The patch test takes around 5 minutes and does need to be booked in advance — you can book yours at andbrowhaus.com/book-now.
This is one of the most common concerns we hear — and it's a completely valid one. Getting the shade right on lighter hair takes a careful eye, and not every salon takes the time to get it right. At &BROWHAUS, shade matching is part of every treatment. Before we start, we'll look at your natural hair colour, skin tone, and what you're hoping to achieve — and we'll never reach for a shade without checking if it works for you first. The goal is always brows that look defined and natural, not overdone.
Yes — and you're far from alone in this. It's one of the things we hear most from new clients with blonde, light brown, grey, or red hair. At &BROWHAUS, we work with your colouring rather than against it. We'll talk through your concerns before we start, take our time with shade selection, and check in with you throughout. If you're nervous, just tell us — we'd rather go lighter and build up than overdo it.
Absolutely. Grey and silver hair can actually look beautiful with very subtle tinting — it's about enhancing definition without adding heavy colour. We can work with a soft, cool-toned shade that gives your brows shape and presence without looking unnatural. We'll always assess your colouring in person before recommending anything.
Lash lift & tint
After a lash lift, there’s typically no need to curl your lashes since the treatment already lifts and curls them beautifully.
With proper care, your lash lift should last 6-8 weeks. If you feel your lashes need additional curl after that time, wait until the lift has completely worn off before safely using an eyelash curler again.
After a lash lift, you need to wait 24 hours before applying mascara to allow the treatment to fully set. Here’s the recommended timeline for mascara use:
After 24 hours:
-
You can use mascara, but choose water-based formulas
-
Use non-waterproof mascara to avoid damaging your lifted lashes
-
Remove mascara carefully with gentle makeup remover
Pro tips:
-
Many people find they need less mascara after a lift since lashes are already curled
-
If you do use mascara, opt for lengthening formulas rather than curling ones
-
Replace your mascara every 3 months for eye health
With the right care, you can enjoy beautifully lifted lashes with or without mascara!
-
When performed correctly by a trained professional, a lash lift does not damage your lashes. The treatment uses gentle, specially formulated solutions designed to lift and curl your natural lashes without causing harm.
To maintain the health of your lashes, we recommend following our aftercare instructions and encourage using conditioning serums or oils, like coconut or argan oil, to keep your lashes nourished. With proper care, your lashes will remain healthy, strong, and beautifully lifted!
It’s best to avoid taking a shower or exposing your lashes to steam or water for the first 24 hours after a lash lift. This allows the lifting solution to fully set and ensures long-lasting results. After this period, you can shower and resume your normal routine without worrying about affecting the lift. Proper care in the initial hours helps keep your lashes beautifully lifted and curled for weeks!
A lash lift and an LVL (Length, Volume, and Lift) are essentially the same treatment. This treatment works with your natural lashes to create the appearance of curl, length, and volume. The process gently lifts your lashes from the root, providing a beautiful, long-lasting curl without the need for extensions. Both treatments enhance your natural lashes for a fuller, more voluminous look!
If you’re looking for a professional lash lift in South West London, visit &BROWHAUS at 78 Balham High Rd, London, SW12 9AG. We’re a 6-minute walk from Balham Underground station and serve clients from Clapham, Streatham, Tooting, Wandsworth, and Brixton. Our lash specialists enhance your natural lashes for a fuller, lifted look lasting 6-8 weeks. Book online to secure your appointment.
A lash lift enhances your natural lashes by curling them upward from the root, creating the appearance of longer, more open eyes—no added materials required. Extensions involve attaching synthetic fibres to each individual lash for added length and volume. Lash lifts are lower maintenance (no infills needed), more affordable long-term, and ideal for clients who want a natural look or have active lifestyles. Extensions offer more dramatic results but require upkeep every 2-3 weeks.
Yes — and a lash tint can be genuinely transformative on lighter lashes, adding definition without needing mascara. As with brows, we'll match the shade to your colouring. For fair-haired clients, a dark brown is often a better choice than black — it gives definition while still looking natural. We'll always discuss the options with you before we start.
Brow lamination
Eyebrow lamination is essentially a perm for your eyebrows that restructures the brow hairs to stay in your desired position. It helps straighten unruly or curly brow hairs, makes brows appear fuller and more uniform, and covers sparse areas by redirecting existing hairs.
With proper aftercare, your brow lamination will last 4-6 weeks.
We recommend you avoid makeup for the first 24 hours following your treatment to allow the lamination to set. After that, you can resume your regular brow routine if needed. However, with a brow lamination you’ll likely find that you no longer need to rely on daily touch ups.
Since this treatment creates fuller, lifted brows while helping to cover any gaps, you’ll wake up with a naturally polished and defined look, saving time in your daily routine and allowing you to enjoy perfectly styled brows with minimal effort.
For professional eyebrow lamination in South West London, visit &BROWHAUS at 78 Balham High Rd, London, SW12 9AG. We’re a 6-minute walk from Balham Underground station and serve clients from Clapham, Streatham, Tooting, Wandsworth, and Brixton. Our brow lamination treatment creates fuller, fluffier brows that last 4-6 weeks. Book online to secure your appointment.
For the first 24 hours, avoid getting the brows wet, applying makeup, or sleeping with pressure on them — this allows the lamination to set properly.
After that, we recommend brushing your brows daily with a clean spoolie, sweeping them into the direction you want them to sit. It's also worth keeping them hydrated — a nourishing oil such as coconut oil or argan oil applied once daily will help maintain the health of the hairs.
You can still use brow makeup after lamination, though most clients find they need far less product. Stick to lightweight pencils or gels if needed, and avoid heavy or waxy formulas that can weigh the hairs down. For general skincare, use gentle cleansers and makeup removers around the brow area, and avoid retinoids, exfoliants, or harsh products directly on the brows.
Most clients come back for a top-up every 6–8 weeks. You'll know it's time when the brows start losing their shape and the hairs begin returning to their natural growth pattern.
Pre- and post-treatment care
As both lash lifts and brow laminations are chemical treatments, a patch test is required 24 hours prior to your appointment to ensure safety and avoid any allergic reactions. The patch test can be easily booked online via our booking system. Please make sure to schedule it ahead of your first treatment with us to ensure we can proceed with your appointment. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priority! Book your patch test.
We place a small amount of the lamination or lift product on your skin (usually your inner wrist) to determine if you will have an adverse reaction to your treatment.
Brow lamination or lash lift services require all new clients to have a patch test at least 24 hours before your first treatment. Book your patch test.
For these services, we also recommend that any sunless tan is removed from your brow area to ensure the best color-matching outcome.
To achieve long-lasting results, exfoliate your brow area gently using a face scrub to remove any dead skin at least 24 hours before your appointment.
